Simco-Ion Becomes New Name In Static Control Technology

Simco and Ion merge brands to bring absolute leading edge solutions to applications and customers worldwide.

The new corporate identity, Simco-Ion, comes on the heels of Simco’s acquisition within the last year of Ion Systems, a technology-driven firm with electrostatic and process monitoring solutions for high technology markets such as semiconductor, disk drive and other electronic clean room manufacturing.

Simco also acquired Ion Industrial, Ion Systems’ industrial applications unit specializing in electrostatic solutions for the converting, printing, packaging, plastic markets as well as electronic assembly and medical segments. According to Simco-Ion management, the company has now integrated these two diversified product lines into a single, expanded worldwide solutions offering.

With international offices in Netherlands, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Brazil and China, and worldwide headquarters in Hatfield, Penn, Simco-Ion now celebrates 75 of delivering static control solutions worldwide since 1936. GLENVIEW, ILLINOIS—(May 18, 2010) 

Illinois Tool Works Inc. (NYSE:ITW) today announced that it has acquired Ion Systems, Inc, a leading producer of electronic static control products. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 

Ion Systems will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITW and will become a part of the company's existing ionization and static electricity control business. ITW will continue to operate Ion Systems as a separate business, as part of the Simco Electrostatic Processes platform. Ion’s products provide electrostatic attraction and discharge management to reduce contamination and improve yields, as well as reducing electromagnetic interference to improve software performance and equipment uptime.
